Hi dudes!
Some fresh news from the antipodes through this wonderful way of communication as I got busy working lately and couldn't handle to email you.
I'm still in Dunedin so far and found a new job...I mean a new job but combined with the current one at the corstorphine house, the fancy hotel/restaurant. By the way, I got promoted and often work as a manager.
The new job is at a cafe by the octagon (for those who know), central dunedin, called "bronx bagels"...as you guess, I make bagels and coffees as well.
The other day, I've made 132 coffees!!! (no...I didn't count them, just the teller report. :-))
Whatever...I've been working 3 weeks in a row and over 180 h in 3 weeks!
But I can't complain,it's my choice and by now, I'm used to it...and after the fishingboat experience, you can pretty much face and endure whatsoever professionnal context!
Money is pretty good as well, and work appreciable. The moot point is I work on my own on the week end or as a manager of nice small crew...
Furthermore, I should be able to save up enough money to head off OZ (Aussie- Australia) at some stage...and "some stage" is shortly...probably another 6 or 7 weeks in DNDN and OZ right afterwards...
I'll be possibly landing in Melbourne but it's a bit too far to be so affirmative and intend to stay for about 6 months.
Anyway...I'm really looking forward to it,it will be 15 months in NZ by this stage, a long while and it's absolutely amazing to tell stories about the previous year considering I was already in on spot!!!
A weird anniversary indeed, as travelling abroad at 20000kms from home is such a huge experience and far away from the people you love.
I didn't forget you guys, I even think of you almost everyday...
The funny thing after 1 year travelling is like you miss your friends and family back home but you miss the friends of yours you've met abroad and who become a sort of family afterwhile...
But it's positive to me anyway as I have new purposes; discovering and exploring new horizons and to get back home at some point before xmas!
Well...by the way, for those who got lost in between times about the university stuff, just to keep you updated, my application form was successful, but unfortunately there is no supervision in master sport psychology at Otago for 2006.
It's no big deal, I didn't feel like lingering in Dunedin for another year, and after all, after 3 years postboning this, I can keep on postboning for a bit, what do you reckon??
I can still end up my studies in Europe somewhere...sometime.
A pathetic anecdote but funny in someways;
I went to visit Ben a german friend of mine working in Queenstown which I've met during the rug show a while ago.
Actually, I broke down on my way back after 2 marvellous days chilling out.
It was in Roxburgh...good old memories...
I was with Eyal (cf photographs somewhere in the website) and we slept in my lovely Triumph as it was too late to sort this out!
I had to work in the morning in Dndn and finally couldn't make it in time...a disaster but my boss laughed positively!
Otherwise, a mate of mine from Roxburgh gave me a ride back to Dunedin (150kms) in the afternoon to work in the evening (Fraser for Flo and Janina).
My car is still in central Otago so far and have got to pick it up on tuesday (only day off of the week) I have no idea how...she (I know... we personified it with Flo) is in a garage (got lucky to drop there!) in Ettrick, and the damages might be fixable but depends on how much...no way to expense a fortune but the point is that I need a car to go to work!
Hope you're enjoying your time wheresoever you are and wish to see you soooooon wheresover it is :-)
Carpe Diem,
Your friend, Nic
